It’s not rare for hardcore gamers to stick to a single game like CS2. However, from time to time, hardcore gamers come across another game that they love, which can be a nice break and a breath of fresh air. When that happens, it’s very nice to find a trading site that trades skins in multiple games. This is the exact case with RapidSkins; which allows you to trade CS2 and Rust skins.

We’ll try to keep this RapidSkins review short. That may be tough, as RapidSkins offers so much. We want to cover some things we love and some things that are, well, just meh. Let’s get started!

Platform Overview & User Journey

Our first thought was that the RapidSkins homepage looks amazing. At a glance, the homepage provided most of the info we wanted to know; features, support, payment methods, etc.

However, the further down we scrolled, the more we felt like leaving. For some reason, they put a full FAQ section on the homepage. We had to scroll past over 1,200 words to get to the next section, which wasn’t much better. RapidSkins has a “quick menu” section with 46 clickable options. We were not joking. 46 clickable options.

It was almost so overwhelming that we didn’t want to deal with it, so we nearly left without creating an account. Ultimately, we decided to give it a chance and were glad we chose to stay.

The top navigation menu has 4 options. And honestly, we were a bit confused between the “trading” and “market” options until we started clicking around. Let us explain them:

Instant Sell: In this section, we can instantly sell our skins for cash. In fact, it’s the only way to sell skins on the site. We like this feature but are unsure how we feel about an algorithm selecting the price we receive. We’d much rather set the sell price we think our skins are worth. But instant sell features do have their pluses.

Trading: This section features skin-for-skin trading, which is also cool. We’re still determining whether we’ll use it much. So far, we haven’t been able to finalize a trade. The other person always seems to want a bit more than we think their skin is worth. But that’s our opinion.

Market: This is a traditional marketplace where users can buy skins.

Rewards: Every week/month, RapidSkins hosts a competition to see who can sell the most money in skins.

We’ll share our thoughts on these features later in the review.

We started like any skin trading site, first creating an account by linking our Steam account. It was nice to see that we didn’t have to fill out any type of KYC form or anything. Even for withdrawals, there was no waiting period to get approved, which we really like and assume almost everyone will enjoy as well.

To buy a skin, we had to go to the marketplace from the top navigation menu or scroll way down to the 46-button “quick menu” at the bottom of the homepage. Every section has the huge “quick menu” at its bottom.

We found that the marketplace lacks more than it has to offer. Though other features make up for that, we want to mention a few things we find frustrating about the marketplace:

  1. The marketplace screen is tiny. Many times, our cursor isn’t over the small area, and we end up scrolling the entire screen instead. The window is only about 2.2 skins tall. So, we had to scroll a lot and be careful to scroll only a little bit, or we’d skip skins. The screenshot below hasn’t been cropped. That is the entire marketplace screen size. Again, the huge “quick menu” at the bottom of the page is about 3-4 times larger than the marketplace screen.
  2. We also thought each skin had a very limited amount of information. We can’t see how many skins are listed on the platform, the amount or frequency of previous sales, or several other important stats that make it easier to profit from trading skins.
  3. The “Purchase” button is at the top of the scrollable filter section. We selected the skin we wanted. Then we had to look around for how to buy it. Ah, we need to scroll up on the filter section. Not great design.

After using the filters, we finally found the skin we wanted. But that was only because we were hunting for a specific skin. The tiny marketplace screen doesn’t make browsing for deals a very user-friendly experience. The filters are limited to “exterior,” “type,” and “other.” They also have a price filter that made us LOL. The high end of the filter is set so high that only about 15% of the filter is useful. In the screenshot below, no skins are found in the yellow portion.

Once we relocated the purchase button, buying the skin was pretty straightforward but did include a couple of things:

  1. Save your Steam tradelink – This, of course, is expected.
  2. Enable 2FA via – This step is a nice plus. We always enjoy an extra layer of security when it comes to websites that have a wallet.

Unique Features

We’re not so sure that the following features are unique. But they are features that we enjoyed using on RapidSkin.

Instant Sell: Though we don’t love not being able to set our own prices for the skins we want to sell, we do love that we can instantly get paid for any skin that may have been sitting on another site for some time. Plus, if we’re in a pinch for some cash, we can always quickly sell a skin to purchase a different deal we came across. Sometimes, taking an instant hit on one skin is worth having the cash to get a better deal on another.

Rewards: We love competition. That’s why we play CS2. The rewards feature on RapidSkins is just that: a competition. Every week/month, RapidSkins has a system that rewards the users who sell the most money in skins with free skins on RapidSkins or cash. The top 10 sellers get rewarded. Challenge accepted!

Marketplace Dynamics

We wouldn’t call RapidSkins a traditional trading platform as it’s not 100% a user buy/sell system. What we mean by that is that RapidSkins has a quick-sell feature in place. They have an algorithm that determines the price of a sale, and then any user needs to buy the skin from RapidSkins at the price they set. This has its pros and cons, which we will discuss below.

RapidSkins has a limited buy-and-sell system in place. However, they do have skin for skin trading. Here is how we see each option:

  • Buy: This is straightforward. The price shown is the price you pay for any given skin. There is no bargaining. Remember that the price set for each skin is not set by the sellers themselves but by the platform that has bought the skin according to an algorithm it has in place.
  • Sell: The only option to sell a skin on RapidSkins is the “instant sell” feature. This has its ups and downs.
  1. Users can’t set the price they want to sell a skin for, period. They take what is offered, or they don’t sell the skin. We must say, though, that the prices offered are very competitive compared to any other instant-sell platform.
  2. We like the instant sell feature. If we need cash quickly for another purchase, this is the site we will visit. We’ll touch base on that in the trading strategy section further down.
  • Trade: This is a nice feature. It may take a while to find someone to accept our trade, but it’s a skin-for-skin transaction—or multiple skins for a nice upgrade on a single skin. It’s definitely worth setting up a few trades just to see what happens.

RapidSkins trading explained in very basic terms:

  1. The seller uses the instant sell feature to sell a skin.
  2. RapidSkins’ algorithm sets the price of the skin.
  3. The user can accept the price or not. If it is accepted, RapidSkins has an instant payout system in place. However, the speed of the payout is connected to the method of how you want to get paid. Very few things are actually instant.
  4. Remember, RapidSkins is buying your skin. So, if you want to buy a skin, you must visit the marketplace with preset prices for any skin.

Security Measures

RapidSkin has a very high level of security. It’s a system we prefer on any platform with a wallet: 2FA authentication. You can either opt to authenticate your login or cash out. You won’t need to do both. Honestly, we prefer the login option. Why? Because, even though someone can’t cash out, they can still get into our account and sell or buy skins and set up bad trades. We feel way more secure having security in place that won’t allow anyone other than us to do any of those things. We’re not even sure why there is an option to choose 2FA on cashout alone.

Exclusive Deals on RapidSkins

There are no RapidSkins premium membership benefits, as no type of paid membership is available to reduce fees. They do, however, have an affiliate program, which can bring you additional money to help reduce the fees they have in place, which is a nice feature.

User Experience and Strategy

The journey of buying and selling skins that we experienced has been both positive and negative. We typically trade skins to offload skins we don’t want to make a bit of money to make the skins we want cheaper. This may be a bit more difficult on RapidSkins due to their instant sell-and-buy mechanics. How we’ll use the site is based on the features they have available:

  • Instant sell: This feature is fantastic for turning any skin you don’t want or are having trouble selling on another site into quick cash. In the skin trading game, having cash on hand is just as important as having skins on hand. Keep that in mind.
  • Trading: Convincing someone to trade skins for skins is a bit more difficult, but an amazing option.

Choosing the Right Skins to Trade

The difference between making or losing money is finding the correct skins to trade. However, trading on RapidSkins is not the best place to trade skins for profit, as they set the sell and buy prices. And by doing so, their algorithm will most likely put them ahead regarding the money made from trading. That is not the best news. However, that doesn’t mean trading on RapidSkins is a deal breaker. Let’s cover a couple of strategies we use:

Skin Trading Strategies

Again, finding the right trading tactics on RapidSkins for buying and selling skins will be tough to turn a profit. Due to their algorithm it’s likely best to follow these tips for profitable trading on RapidSkins.

  1. Instant sell: This feature is useful when combined with multiple trading sites. It’s possible to find amazing deals on sites from time to time, likely due to a trader’s inexperience in the market. When that happens, having cash on hand is super important. RapidSkins’ instant sell feature is the perfect tool for some quick cash.
  2. Market Research: To find those perfect deals, you must be tuned into the market and follow several communities. It’s easier to make money trading skins if you know what’s happening within the CS2, and Rust gaming ecosystems. An easy way to do this is to follow patch updates for any game you trade skins on.
  3. Affiliate system: Participate in this for sure. Be sure to create a link and share it wherever possible. Any free money is profit. This also goes for their reward system. However, it will be much more difficult to gain from that.

Also, remember that there are a few common sense best strategies for RapidSkins skin trading you can do to increase how to win in skin trading. They go without saying, but here they are anyway:

  • Buy low, sell high
  • Buy and sell popular skins
  • Join active trading communities

Community and Social Interaction

If you aren’t an active player or trader, profit from trading skins will be very tough. However, it may not be your goal to profit. If that is the case, you’ll still want to find the best deals on the skins you want to not overpay and save money. One of the easiest ways to do that is to follow what’s happening. RapidSkins community has an X (Twitter) channel that can help with that and a Discord server. The X account posts regularly but not often enough to get a good grasp on the current skins market. So, you’ll want to follow other channels as well.

Fairness and Economic Impact

RapidSkins’ instant sell feature does leave a little to wonder about the fairness of the platform. We assume they buy low and sell higher to make money. However, there will be times when RapidSkins buys a skin for more than they can sell it for due to trends in the gaming community. The economic impact is directly connected to what you sell and what you immediately do with the money. As mentioned earlier, sometimes taking an instant hit on one skin is worth getting a better deal on another.

Cost vs. Reward

The cost vs. reward of trading on RapidSkins is 100% connected to the instant sell and trading features. Since RapidSkins sets the buy prices, you can likely be assured that their algorithm is set for them to make the most money possible.

Odds and Transparency

RapidSkins does use an algorithm to buy skins for anyone who wants to sell one. We don’t know what this algorithm is, nor can we find any information about it online. The only thing we could see was a quote from RapidSkins itself: “our advanced pricing algorithms calculate the current market value of your skins accurately.” So, odds don’t really come into play on RapidSkins, but for sure, transparency does. And there seems to be none.

Promotions and Bonuses

RapidSkins’ rewards and prizes structures are nice. We specifically like the affiliate system. They also have promotions set in place. However, we weren’t able to find any at the time. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. We just couldn’t find any. We’ve listed what they have and don’t have below:

  • Welcome bonus: RapidSkins does not offer a welcome bonus. However, it does have other features that can make trading on its platform more profitable.
  • Affiliate system: Create a link and share it wherever you can. You’ll receive 1% of any sale. That’s massive if you have 100s of people using your link. Be sure to market it correctly. Anyone who sells a skin using your link will also receive a 1% boost in their sale price.
  • Promo codes: RapidSkins does have promo codes. They change from time to time. Take advantage of Google searches to find any that are current. RapidSkins has several socials, so if you follow the socials we listed above, you can find up-to-date promo codes.

Integration with Trading Activities

The affiliate system RapidSkins has in place is nice. As stated above, you will receive 1% of every sale from a user who created their account through your affiliate link. So, be sure to join active communities and post your link everywhere it is allowed.

Support

RapidSkins has a dual support system. You can get in touch with them via emailing  [email protected]. If you don’t want to wait around for an email reply, they also have live support. This option is much faster. They typically reply in under 5 minutes. Not bad. The live support also has a bot feature. The search box is rather limited. Writing live support may be the best option.

Payment Methods

There are plenty of payment methods available:

  • Bitcoin (BTC) & Litecoin (LTC): A 2% fee is deducted from your deposit. There is no minimum amount stated.
  • Credit and debit cards: RapidSpins uses a third-party service called Kinguin. To use a card, you’ll need to first purchase a RapidSpins gift card from them and then redeem it.
  • PayPal & Klarna: These two payment options are the same as credit & debit cards. You’ll need to purchase and redeem the gift cards to fund your wallet.

Keep in mind that the withdrawal options are a bit different than the deposit methods. PayPal, BTC, LTC, and, oddly enough, ETH are all available methods. We find it strange that we can withdraw funds in ETH but not deposit funds via that method.

Our Rating

RapidSkins has frustrating design and usability issues. The affiliate program would be nice if a lot of people used your link. This could be a way to make some real money. However, like the rewards section, seeing any real gains from it will likely be very tough.

Final words

RapidSkins is a decent skins trading site but has limited use cases. It’s great if you need some quick cash or have time to keep waiting and trying for the perfect skin-to-skin trade. Other than that, setting your sell prices and negotiating buy prices is always a better way to make money in the skins game.
